Abstract: In the article, the dynamics of Moldovan natality over 1990-2008 years are examined, the factors and possible consequences of a collapse of natality, the structural changes in the calendar of births, the differentiation of natality by place of residence (urban/rural), the impact of labor migration on natality are analyzed. Based on long-term projections until 2050 year the author considers possible future natality trends and their impact on the dynamics of Moldovan population.
Key words: dynamics of Moldovan population, natality level, total fertility rate, adjusted total fertility rate, cohort fertility rate, population projection.
